From David Ray, Community Manager, via e-mail:
Last night, the St. Johns County School Board announced two proposals for the zoning of the Nocatee K-8 students for the 2014/2015 school year. These same proposals will be made tomorrow at 6:30pm at Ponte Vedra High School.
You can see the proposals here:
In the first proposal, the Nocatee neighborhoods are split between the New Nocatee school and Ocean Palms/Landrum, while a second proposal has all Nocatee students zoned at the new Nocatee school.
We have heard many residents say they do not feel the need to participate since they are satisfied with the current zoning for their students under either of the County proposals. Please remember that the school zoning process takes place annually. Your neighborhood may be zoned for one school one year and changed the next. We encourage all residents to provide support for other Nocatee neighborhoods as you may need their support for your own neighborhood in future years.
The PARC Group has committed to donate eight school sites within Nocatee to St. Johns County and continues to work with the School Board to provide information on Nocatee and its future growth. However, the decisions relating to the construction of schools and student zoning rests with the School Board.
The most important message is to become involved and express your desires to the School Board.
To make your opinion heard, attend the meeting tomorrow evening or email the school board at
